If you want the newest Android phone, you can normally get a discount during the pre-order period. Manufactures either provide a flat discount or offer additional items with the purchase, such as new headphones, speakers or a gift card. These deals normally begin a month or two before a new phone release.
If you do not want a new phone, it is still worth keeping an eye on release dates. Normally, after the first month of a new phone coming out, the older models either go on sale or experience a sharp decline in price.
